Conversation with James and Tom Risen, The Last Honest Man
Join Professor Jeffrey Sachs in his conversation with authors James and Tom Risen on their important, new book The Last Honest Man, a gripping biography of Idaho Senator, Frank Church. The Risens describe the remarkable events of 1975, when Senator Church almost single-handedly took on the CIA and FBI, to hold them accountable for serious crimes that they had committed, including the CIA’s assassination plots and the CIA’s and FBI’s illegal surveillance of American citizens.
This is an inspiring story of how one idealistic Senator battled the powerful and secretive US security state and temporarily brought it under public scrutiny. Alas, it is also a profound warning for our own time - as the 1975 Church Committee was the last time in half a century that the CIA has been thoroughly investigated. Tune in for a fascinating discussion of pivotal events 50 years ago and their profound relevance for today.

Anyone who read the first papers from the WHO when they finally decided to go to China, Stevie Wonder can see that they avoided the labs in Wuhan to steer the investigation away from them. This is the largest cover-up in human history and if the people who directed it are not brought to justice, this happen again very soon and the citizens will NOT trust anything coming from science.

This tedious 1hr 41 minutes long discourse of this webinar over the origin of Covid-19 virus may be summarized in just two words: "Nobody knows". There is, however, one person who knows the truth officially. He is President Xi of China ( his scientists would have told him) and he is not going to talk about the subject from here to eternity!

In all cases involving calamitous results in the event of failure, a failsafe mechanism is invariably incorporated. Hence, the best way forward is to assume the worst case scenario, namely, the accidental or deliberate release of a pathogen from a research laboratory. The only way to avoid this worst case scenario will be a total ban on such research anywhere in the world. Of course, this option is almost impossible to achieve, given the current total absence of trust among the countries in which such research is being conducted.

Love Dr. Lustig's energy and courage in facing down the industrial food industry- he has taught me so muc. But I hope Dr. Lustig will begin to include data on hormone deficiencies in women to describe the fat shift from subcutaneous to visceral in women with the loss of estrogen through ovarian senescence from a physiologically healthy level to zero. Sleep, bone, brain deprivation equals severe stress to the body.

I call upon ALL Endocrinologists and Nutritionists to publicly back up Dr.Lustig's message. It is an absolute travesty that Dr. Lustig is not on our TV's, cell phones and lap-tops 24/7 x 365 - presenting his science for the betterment of our own health and the over-stressed healthcare system - world wide. A huge problem as he stated because it requires political and public fortitude to bring about change when tackling the money motives of food companies. But correct me if I'm wrong - but surely the role of HFCSyrup and the removal of fibre in creating the metabolic health crisis needs to be on every billboard and every ad-break until it is as well known as the national anthem. I was born in the early 60's, so I am fortunate enough to remember real food and a time where obesity was rare. I am a nurse - have been since the mid '80's - I have seen professionally the almost exponential increase in BMI and increased prevalence of Type 2 diabetes. So if I can see it as a professional observer, then why is the medical dietary advice so wrong in blaming the calorie, rather than the processed diet that leads to hyperinsulinaemia? Since Dr. Lustig, as a paediatric endocrinologist, has seen obese infants - where such condition can never be attributed to the infant's "lifestyle" - and has explanations for this in his book Fat Chance - where is the public support from his endocrinology peers? So, if I "stumbled" across Dr. Lustig's no-brainer message on You Tube, it was because I have been interested in the phenomenon for 35 years. It follows that there are so many that would never stumble across his wisdom, if they are not researching health-related topics. So I return to "The Travesty" - THIS STUFF NEEDS TO BE OUT THERE AND IN THE GENERAL PUBLIC'S PSYCHE. All the best in your mission Dr Lustig.

In a world of limits, what we now consider to be opportunity - worthy pursuit in the main - is the promise of a global consensus that China, Russia (yes) and other countries present with the end of the Petrodollar through the BRICS preeminence. They take a stance on a multi-polar economic order allowing each nation to follow its own path of politics and material development to ultimately arrive at a global homeostasis.

This is spacious nonsense. First, Sachs states that January 6th 2021 was the first UNARMED 'insurrection' in history. A proposition so ludicrous as to beggar the imagination. Secondly, Richardson claims that the South 'won' the Civil War. It did not because the racial hierarchy that she rightfully points out ruled in the West is no longer the case. Not to mention that until the 60s, racial hierarchy ruled in the North as well. It was just more obvious in the South and West. So at most, in the aftermath of the Civil War, the Confederacy won a 'battle' but not the war. Racial hierarchy no longer exists in America and no amount of claims by the left can make that untruth... factual. This is typical of 'intellectuals' whose life experience has been spent in the ivory towers of academia. It doesn't take 'critical thinking' to see the inherent flaws in their propositions, just a bit of common sense. “Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts.” Daniel Patrick Moynihan

@@youtubezcy News flash! Offering reasoned, fact based argument IS backing up one's ideas. 99.9% of the January 6th protesters were unarmed. That's a fact not an idea. The South's economy was dependent upon slave labor not only did slavery end as a result of the Civil War but a century and a half later racism is nearly extinct in America. So there's no basis for claiming that the Confederacy won the war. As for "wing nut media addicts only repeating TV talking points" "When the debate is lost, the loser resorts to slander" Socrates In going straight to slander rather than challenging the points I made you demonstrate you're one of those people who would put a Socrates to death.

I think the comments criticizing Professor Sachs are misplaced. Jeffrey Sachs is a polymath. He is having a conversation (note the title) with Dr. Lustig in order to give him a wider audience than simply those of us who have been interested in metabolic health for a long time and are already educated on the subject. I would bet that those who want Dr. Lustig to expound at length without interruption or clarification would have much to learn from Prof. Sachs on economics and geopolitics. Following him in other venues might engender more respect. If you're already well versed in metabolic health information, there are plenty of other videos for listening to Dr. Lustig uninterrupted, while this one may help those who need to be introduced to the basic concepts.
